Isla Cuale
History

History of isla cuale

Isla Cuale has been in existence since 1926. Originally known as Isla de Santa Clara and Isla de los Niños (Island of the Children), it was home to many families until Hurricane Lily in 1971 flooded the island and drove residents to drier and higher ground. Since then, it has become a public recreational area that everyone can enjoy.

Formed by a fork in the Cuale River, this small island is now a destination for locals and tourists alike to find nature, culture, food, shopping, and activites.
